The Magic of Cusco, Peru

From the moment I laid eyes on Cusco from the plane, I knew that I had
arrived at a sacred land. I am not sure if the fact that I was traveling here with some of my best friends, to a place that I had dreamed of visiting for so long, incremented the magical experience. Nevertheless, I was certain that this ancient city held the fascinating rich culture I had learned about. They say some places leave you breathless and sometimes even speechless. For a while I contemplated the experience I had while I visited Machu Picchu and I was really at a loss of words. It is not that I couldn’t write about its history or offer any recommendations of my trip, but truthfully, I am sure you can find better articles out there about that. You see, I am concerned with the human experience, the civilization that dwelled in this place high above the clouds. Continue reading

4 Simple Lessons I learned from Buddha

dsc_0644

Some people regard Buddhism as a religion, but for many, it is actually a philosophy and a way of life. When I was in Thailand, I was intrigued to learn more about the ways one can incorporate some of the basic concepts into everyday life. I visited temples in different cities, observed many of its practices, learned about loving-kindness, and took a meditation class with a monk. Continue reading

Villefranche-sur-Mer : Eyes Wide Open

DSC_1236 (1)It’s hard not to fall in love with the picturesque town of Villefranche-sur-mer. When I first arrived to the south of France I thought I was going to have a lot of time to reflect on life and the future ahead, but for some reason I always find myself contemplating the present.

There is something about the towns in Provence that just makes me feel like I’m in a fairytale book. The flowers blooming on windowsills, the narrow cobblestone streets leading to quaint shops and cafes, and the smell of warm bread coming from the nearest boulangerie, it’s simply magnificent.

Valbonne is located in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region. Continue reading

Day Trip to Sanremo, Italy

Last weekend my host family and I made a day trip to Sanremo in Italy. With only an hour drive from France, we arrived to the charismatic city. We went grocery shopping for some fresh Italian food. Among the many things we got were truffle and olive oil, different kinds of pasta, risotto, mushroom, and some succulent tomatoes and fruits. The sight of so much food left us with quite an appetite. Pérez Art Museum Miami

DSC_1053

I have found that when I travel, within the States or out of the country, when I mention that I live in Miami, people immediately make a connection to the beaches and the clubbing scene. Although this is true, there is much more to Miami than the partying perception. For instance, the Design District and Wynwood art galleries have emerged to prove innovation of art, fashion, architecture, design, and dining.  Continue reading

Lucerne: A city of charm

DSC_0378

Swiss army knives, exquisite Lindt chocolate, Movado, Swatch and Rolex watches, to name a few, have renowned Switzerland for quality and excellence. However, the richness of the country is not only measured by its impeccable taste in products, but the splendor of its cities.

Lucerne exemplifies all of the country’s greatness and exudes a charm of its own. The white swans dress river Reuss with grace while the Swiss Alps meet lake Lucerne with brilliance. Full of history and culture, the city is as clean as the fresh air.
